Primary responsibilities are to structure credit to market (asset quality and competitiveness balanced), developing financial models and projections for term debt and transactions, negotiating credit (with Client Manager and/or Credit Products Officer involved as needed), underwriting credit, gaining credit approval, etc. The Assistant Credit Products Officer will assist with credit activities associated with Commercial Banking (Large Middle Market and C&I) relationships with aggregate debt exposure greater than $15MM. These relationships involve complex, syndicated, and highly valued credits.
Structure credit to market (asset quality and competitiveness balanced). Conduct financial modeling (projections for term debt and transactions).
Underwrite credit (new/renewals/modifications).Gain credit approval (with Client Manager or Relationship Manager as sponsor).
Complete due diligence. Negotiate credit (with Client Manager or Relationship Manager involved as needed). Reviewing closing documents and ensuring proper booking of transactions.
Monitor financial statements, borrowing base, covenant compliance, exception management overdrafts and ACH approvals. Contribute to client planning sessions.
Work with Client Managers or Relationship Managers to structure idea pitches. With Client Manager or Relationship Manager, perform relationship reviews to determine appropriateness and competitiveness of credit package.
Bachelor''s Degree (BA, BS, etc.) in Business, Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required with Two (2) years of account relationship management experience. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

The key responsibilities of the Credit Products Officer I involveunderwriting and ongoing periodic monitoring of credits to companies within theMiddle Market, Mid-Corporate and Restaurant Finance lines of business. The mainobjective is to ensure that the credit risk assumed by the Bank complies withBBVA Compass Credit Policies and Procedures which govern the Bank’s riskappetite. CPOs are primarily industry generalists focused on assisting the respectivelines of business who are tasked with developing the Bank’s portfolio of loansthat meet the specific structure and criteria within these lines of business.In addition to underwriting and providing portfolio management coverage onparticipations mostly to broadly syndicated facilities, coverage also mayinclude those directly originated by the Bank for bilateral, club andsyndicated facilities whereby the Bank serves as lead agent.The ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS, etc.) in a business related field withemphasis in management, accounting or finance is required with at least six (6)hours of accounting.
- Requires a minimum of one and a half (1 1/2) years ofunderwriting or credit analysis experience.
