Formalizes the process of risk management within an organization. Responsible for executing risk management activities. Lead the identification of risk issues and solutions to mitigate those issues. Responsible to understand financial institution regulatory requirements for security risk assessments. Coordinate the performance of risk studies to analyze threats to BBVA Compass assets, to assess the adequacy of controls to protect these assets, and to determine actions appropriate to mitigate the risk. Identify and analyze the areas of potential risk threatening the assets, earning capacity or success of the organization. Have responsibility of predicting change, forecasting cost to the organization and predicting future trends.Responsibilities
- Identify, measure and manage risk issues. Document risk issues, recommendations, and decisions.Serve as an expert in various aspects of risk management. Undertake the average complexity projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge.Make well-thought-out decisions to mitigate typical security risk issues. Ensure high-level integration of security policies and standards in applications.Identify, evaluate, and lead technical analyses to ensure security requirements are met; managing resources wisely; evaluating sources of action and proposed business decisions; protecting the organization’s assets and public image.Conducting research to assess the severity of risk. Conducting statistical analysis to evaluate risk and using statistical software such as SPSS and SAS.
Positionis within a team responsible for supporting the evaluation, installation, useand administration of tools and models used by the Wholesale Credit Risk area ofthe Bank. This position will alsosupport the business unit and overall bank strategic initiatives relating to wholesalecredit risk management to include (1) reviewing and implementing processimprovement methodologies, tools, and techniques, (2) providing guidance andsupport to projects that increase processing efficiency, or increaseproductivity, (3) effectively focusing on process management with an emphasison high quality service and productivity and (4) effectively utilizing teamworkand leadership behaviors. TheScorecard Specialist will be responsible for suite of rating models and managethe assigned scorecards life cycle. Thesuccessful candidate will partner with Wholesale Credit Risk leadership, ModelDevelopment and Validation to work through monitoring, calibration, actionplans and owner assessments. TheSpecialist will also be the liaison with the user groups and manage requestsfor guidance and enhancements along with the need for new development. The Specialist role will also be actively involvedwith data extraction and analysis for the technology team related to thescorecards and other Wholesale Credit Risk objectives. Responsiblefor following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems.Individuals at this level are expected to use independence of thought as wellas handle complex problems. Individuals would be expected to contribute to workflow or process change and redesign, and to form a strong basic understandingof the specific function. May also be accountable for regular reporting orprocess administration as owner. Bachelor’sdegree in Business, Finance or Economics with MBA degree preferred, or 3- 5 yearsof experience. C&I and/or CREUnderwriting experience a plus. Specific Duties
Responsible for 3 - 4primary wholesale credit risk probability of default scorecardsAddress model specific questions and research inquiries from model users and others (group, regulators, validation, etc.)Be primarily responsible for analyzing the requests for and managing the development of guidance on a case by case basisAct as the primary liaison with the business unit on any sponsored development.Responsible for the completion of the Model Owner Assessments for assigned scorecards.Responsible for data extraction and analysis related to the models and improvementsUndertake complex projects requiring additional specialized knowledge – JIRA, Kanban, SAS, ATDD stories, etc.Promote scorecard enhancements for assigned scorecards in the regular release scheduleManage non-scorecard enhancements pipeline (usability, features, ease-of-use, etc. )Present ideas via reports and presentations, outlining findings and making recommendations for improvements Special JobRequirementsWorking understanding of regulatory requirements and mandated compliance processesFamiliarity with accounting requirementsExperience with RiskAnalyst or other risk assessment tools used to support wholesale credit risk
